Opioid Drugs



Opioids is the Narcotic Substances. Opiods are acting on the CNS [Central Nervous System] by Opioid receptors.  Opioids having Analgesic action hence Opioids used as Pain killer in severe cases like Cancer,  Rheumatoid Arthritis etc. 

Classification of Opioids


Opioids classified on the basis of cultivation and collection.
1.  Natural Opioids: Opium poppy, Morphine,  
                                     Codeine, Thebaine. 

2. Semi Synthetic Opioid: Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, 
                                           Oxymorphone, Desomorphine, Diacetylmorphine (Heroin),  
                                           Nicomorphine.

3. Fully Synthetic Opioids: Fentanyl, Pethidine, Methadone,  
                                             Tramadol & Dextropropoxyphene.


Opioid Pharmacology

Opiods or other narcotic substances act on Opioid Receptors. which are mu, kappa, and delta in the CNS.
Produced Analgesia and introducing well feeling and Greatness. This action of opiods due to stimulation of specific centers of brains that control wakefulness and alertness.

Opioid Adverse effects

Opioid Adverse effects includes  Nausea and Vomiting, Drowsiness, Itching, Dry Mouth, Miosis, and Constipation.
